Columbian Rust Shrooms Trip Report
Columbian rust shooms (psilocybe cubensis colombian) are triply as volcano hell. After thirty minutes, the walls are starting to bend. You’re watching them dance around you, a glowing red heat behind them that you can’t quite understand. You go up and touch one, and your hand begins to glow deep red. You take it away, looking at it. In your fingernails are tiny eyes, then suddenly eyelids begin to rapidly opening and shutting in morse code and for some reason you never understood S.O.S. but you understand it today.
Fingernail Eye’s Emitting Light as Code
The eye’s on your fingernails are emiting light that you read as morse code and you visualise each code not typical and linear but circular in the form of a spore print. It’s so cool looking. You touch it and shake it. The code turns into written words and these words fall to the ground like spores from the cap and suddenly they’re gone dissolving into the floor.
Next, the wall before you melts away. You’re standing at the edge of a volcano, right at the crater. Below you the lava is churning, bubbling with molten heat. You step out. You can walk on the air, and you keep walking, right over the volcano. There’s shouting and music on the other side. You start to run, trying to find where the voices are coming from. The ground gives way, and you’re slipping down a wet slope through long grass, going faster and faster. You come to a stop just before a river, where creatures no bigger than your hand are playing on fiddles and harps. Fireflies shoot all around you, and you feel a tingling warmth in your chest. You’re glowing, and now you realise you are a firefly – soaring higher through the trees, buzzing all over. The world is light, and so are you.
CAP: Rusty’s cap is 20-50mm in size. It’s a pale to caramel brown at maturity, sometimes with whitish spots; remnants of universal veil.

STEM: The stem is usually yellowish in colour, and mostly solid. It has a small, hollow central channel and blues with bruising and age. There can be some delay in bruising.
SPORES: This mushie’s spores are sub-ellipsoid, with four-spored basidia. His clay brown to reddish spores are what gave him his name, and are 11.5-17 microns by 8-11 microns in size.
HABITAT: Rusty loves a subtropical climate, and thrives in grassy pastures. Like most Psilocybe cubensis strains, he’s into dung-enriched soil, especially bovine dung. Bring on the cows.
