Psilocybe Cubensis Golden Teacher Trip Report
You’re leaning back in your chair, letting yourself go. Twenty minutes in, and the Shrooms are starting to take effect. Your face is relaxing, every muscle loosening. Tingles shoot up and down your body. You feel as if you’re floating, out of your chair, out of the room. Into a higher dimension. You let the teacher guide you, taking control of your body as you become weightless. You find yourself surrendering control, and a landscape takes shape before your eyes. Green, vivid, full of sweet smells and haze. You see the people you love – your mother, your father, friends and family, all of them standing around you. Your spirit lifts, inhabiting each one of them in turn. You feel how it feels to be them, to live and breathe in their skin. You see their thoughts. You live their existence. All throughout this you’re calm, knowing your teacher is at your side. You are at ease, you are happy, you are enlightened at last.
Psilocybe Cubensis Golden Teacher Information
CAP: The Teacher’s cap is broad or broadly conical, sometimes oval or bell-shaped when young, expanding to convex, broadly umbonate, or plane. It is usually 1.5-8cm in size, with a whitish to yellowish centre. The cap has a golden colour to it, which is what gives this mushie its name. When damaged, the cap will turn either olive or bluish in colour.
GILLS: The Shroom’s gills are adnate to adnexed, or seceding to free.
STEM: Teacher’s stem is 4-15cm long, and 0.4-5cm thick. It can be equal thickness throughout, or thicker at the base. It is dry, white to yellowish-brown, and bruises bluish-green with age.
SPORES: Dark brown to purplish brown, the spores are usually 11-17 microns by 7-12 microns in size. They are elliptical, smooth and thick-walled, featuring a large apical germ pore.
HABITAT: The Golden Teacher is a dung-loving species. He grows by rivers, alongside cows and goats, and thrives in humid grasslands. While he loves cows, he doesn’t love them enough to grow in cowpats, so steer clear of any funky-looking dung piles.
