The correct way to dry magic mushrooms and truffles
We explore how to dry magic mushrooms in order to preserve them for a long time and thus give them long-lasting durability. This is basic knowledge that every psychonaut should have.
Have you just returned from a crisp autumn day with a psychedelic discovery? Or perhaps your psilocybin-containing truffle or mushroom growing kit is being prepared for harvest? Perhaps there is even a packet of truffles to be saved for later. In any case… If you have fresh psychedelic baby bodies and decide to save them for later, now is the time to dry them. Here’s how to do it.
Drying magic mushrooms may seem like a very simple task. Protecting your mushrooms and truffles from mould is more complicated than it may seem. Simply drying magic mushrooms on a windowsill or in a heater will extend their shelf life, but there are other ways to ensure that they remain edible for several years. But first let’s take a closer look at the initial drying process.
Drying the base material
Once you have harvested your magic mushrooms or magic truffles, it is advisable to start drying them immediately to reduce the risk of possible deterioration. One of the main factors encouraging the development of mould is the moisture content of the baby mushrooms. If this factor can be removed by drying, the risk of mould development is also reduced.
First, place the mushrooms and truffles on a flat surface so that they do not touch each other. You can use a large plate or baking sheet for this purpose. In the next step, there are several possible approaches. The steps you take will also depend very much on the resources available to you. For example, place the mushrooms or truffles on a plate or baking sheet and cover them with a black cloth in a warm window, in a winter garden or in a greenhouse. The direct exposure to the sun will speed up the drying process and will not damage the mushrooms or truffles. If the time of year does not allow for direct sunlight, you can also place the covered magic mushrooms/magic truffles next to a heater or similar.
In any case, you can remove the moisture in this way. To extend the shelf life even further, it is important to remove any remaining water until the pulp eventually cracks like a dry biscuit.
Further drying
The next step is a little more complicated than the previous one, but is absolutely necessary if the pulp is to be stored for a long time. For this step, you will need a dehumidifier and an airtight container. A dehumidifier is essentially a substance that absorbs moisture from the air. They are also used in industry to protect products from moisture during transport and storage. There are several fabrics to choose from here. Silica gel is one of these agents and is often used for this purpose. It is a natural and harmless mineral and is ideal for this job. The silica gel is placed in an airtight container, such as Tupperware, together with the pulp. However, care should be taken to ensure that the silica gel does not directly contact the baby fruit. For this purpose, it is advisable to place some partition in the box. Then close the lid and seal the container. From this point on you need to use your own judgement. Check the brood regularly. When they are finally dry, like cookies or other dusty treats, this step is complete. You can now store your mushrooms and truffles in peace. Then close the lid and seal the container. Now it’s time for your personal assessment. Check your baby mushrooms on a regular basis. If they are finally dry, like cookies or other dusty sweets, this step is complete. You can now store your mushrooms and truffles with confidence. Then close the lid and seal the container. Now it’s time for your personal assessment. Check your baby mushrooms on a regular basis. If they are finally dry, like cookies or other dusty snacks, this step is also complete. You can now safely store your mushrooms and truffles.
You can also use magnesium salt, known as Epsom salt. First, bake the Epsom salt in an oven at 250°C for about two hours. The existing water is removed and the salt is given the ability to absorb moisture from the air in order to compensate for the lost liquid. As this salt absorbs water very quickly, it should be placed immediately in an airtight container with the pulp. The above procedure is then carried out again. The salt should be placed in the bottom of the container. Then divide the room with a net or something similar so that the salt does not touch the baby bodies. Then place the mushrooms and truffles on top of the net and seal the container. Then check regularly whether the baby bodies are dry and store them for a long time.
Storage of dried magic mushrooms
Once the mushrooms and truffles have dried, they should be stored in a dark, dry and cool place to prevent further deterioration. Correctly stored mushrooms can be kept for many years. May your health be protected.
